The Ten Gods (十神, Shi Shen) are the relationship between your Day Master (the element of your birth day) and every other element in your BaZi chart. They describe how you relate to the world — your talents, drives, and the people around you.
Each element either generates, controls, or matches your Day Master. These relationships produce the Ten Gods: two for each of the five relationship types, split by yin/yang polarity.
Companions (比劫) — elements identical to your Day Master: Friend (比肩) for same polarity, Rival (劫财) for opposite. These represent self, peers, and competitive drive.
Output (食伤) — elements you generate: Eating God (食神) and Hurting Officer (伤官). These represent your talents, creativity, expression and ideas.
Wealth (财) — elements you control: Direct Wealth (正财) and Indirect Wealth (偏财). These represent money, resources, and your relationship to material success.
Authority (官杀) — elements that control you: Direct Officer (正官) and Seven Killings (七杀). These represent discipline, career, status, and pressure.
Resources (印) — elements that generate you: Direct Resource (正印) and Indirect Resource (偏印). These represent support, knowledge, mentors, and mother-figures.
